HSE Audit
Auditing
is a key element of any HSE
management system; e.g. API 9100, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001. The
traditional purpose of auditing is to check for implementation’s
compliance with standards and management system provisions and
expectations. Additionally, auditing is used as a tool for identifying
areas of improvement.
Auditing
is a systematic process that consists of a well-defined methodology with
clear deliverables. A qualified audit team is responsible for performing
the HSE audit. The audit process starts with office preparation
activities in which the audit plan is prepared along with logistical
steps. This is followed by field audit where the audit team members tour
through the audited area observing, conversing, and checking records and
documents to assess compliance. This is done using pre-prepared
worksheets that include checklists.
Once a

non-compliance record or NCR. Once the audit is concluded, an audit
report is prepared with key findings, if any for corrective actions.
